Mahseer, although large fish, have been extremely poorly studied in the country. Although these fish have been responsible for driving the tourism industry in several places in the country, their study and conservation has always taken a back seat. Here we take a look at the case study of the largest mahseer in the world, a misidentified and endemic fish of the River Cauvery.
